Iohud: Chappaqua mansion to be auctioned on May 18

A 19,000-square-foot Georgian stone mansion on 86 wooded acres in the hamlet is set to be sold in a bankruptcy auction on May 18.

Designed by renowned architect Boris Baranovich, the Rosewood estate was built in 2004 for Stewart Dauman, former CEO of Vision Financial Corp. and current chairman of CustomerSpeaks LLC, and his family.

The property at 48 Haights Cross Road has been listed for sale since 2010. Most recently, it was priced at $13.75 million, according to real estate websites.

On April 15, Dauman filed for a Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition, and under the court authorization, the property will be auctioned on-site at 11 a.m. May 18.

“It’s an outstanding opportunity for anyone who wants to come in and bid on the property,” said Randy Haddaway, founder and CEO of Elite Auctions, which is handling the sale. “Someone is going to get a good deal that day.”

The property owner would not be open to an interview, said Marie Sheehan with RUHM, a luxury real estate marketing firm.

The stone mansion features six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, three half baths and eight fire places. Amenities include an indoor basketball court, gym and a billiard room that doubles as a home theater.
