The Dallas Morning News: Councilman Lee Kleinman’s North Dallas house heads to auction

Dallas city councilman Lee Kleinman will be looking for new digs if his North Dallas mansion sells later this month.

Kleinman’s 7,154-square-foot home on Ricks Circle is set to be auctioned Sept. 28. Florida-based Elite Auctions will take bids for the house, with no reserve.

Kleinman said he plans to stay in the City Council district even if the property sells. The house has been on the market for the past two years, but hasn’t attracted a buyer.

“We’ve taken this auction route and we’ll see what happens,” he said. “I’m not going anywhere. I’m just downsizing.”

The house, which sits on two acres, was most recently listed for $3.5 million. The wooded property includes a creek and a pond. The house has five bedrooms and six baths, four fireplaces and a four-car garage.

A feature of the home is a double helix floating staircase.

“Designed to highlight the scenic setting of its location, this home was the result of great teamwork between the esteemed architect Greg Ibañez, builder Travis & Travis and designer Donna Guerra,” Elite Auctions says in a pitch for the property. “Built in 1993, the home’s design and construction well exceed the norm for its time.”

The auction of the property will be held on site.
