Penta: A Motor Yacht That Can Accommodate 19 People Heads to Auction

Irish Rover, a 97-foot long motor yacht that can accommodate up to 19 people, will be up for auction on site in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, or via online bidding, on June 20.

Valued at $3.5 million, the yacht will be auctioned without reserve, meaning that the highest bidder will become the new owner of the yacht, according to Elite Auctions, which is handling the sale.

The yacht was custom built in 2011 by the Palmetto, Florida-based luxury motor yacht builder Marlow Yachts for Michael and Jan Gould, owners of Responsive Drip Irrigation, which develops smart, water efficient irrigation systems, according to Elite Auctions.

“As they move onto the next phase of company growth internationally, they would rather someone else enjoy the boat, given their limited time to enjoy it at this time,” said Tara McLean, president of Elite Auctions.

The Goulds were not available for comment.

The yacht has very low hours, has never been chartered, and has always been maintained with a full-time captain, according to Ms. McLean. Powered by two engines, the yacht’s max speed is 29 knots (about 33 miles per hour) and cruising speed is 23 knots.

“It sleeps 16 plus a crew of three and can be operated by a single person,” Ms. McLean said. “It has multiple decks for entertaining with outstanding wood accents.”
