Mansion near Wildcat Falls in Hellam Township is up for auction for nearly $3.8 million

A mansion near Wildcat Falls in Hellam Township is up for private auction for nearly $3.8 million, according to Zillow.

The 7,674-square-foot mansion at 6995 Roundtop Lane overlooks the Susquehanna River just north of Wrightsville. It sits on a 132-acre property.

Mansion offers many amenities

The original part of the structure has 27-inch-thick solid stone walls, the listing states. Both east and west wings to the main house, “maintaining the same construction quality as the original structure, including slate roofing with copper spouting and gutters.”

It features many amenities, including six bedrooms, seven bathrooms (5 full and 2 half bathrooms), a heated indoor pool with scenic views, private ponds and a private climate-controlled conservatory.

The monthly cost of the home is estimated at $27,088, the listing states.

Mansion sits near Wildcat Falls

The mansion sits on an 800-foot elevation known as Round Top in the Hellam Hills area, according to local historian Stephen H. Smith. While the real estate listing mentions it was built in 1860, Smith wrote that it was constructed for Marietta Jeweler Robert Zanker in 1894 and became a popular summer resort.

The mansion has had several owners over the years, including Philip G. Loucks and his wife, Marguerite. Their son, Michael Loucks, and daughter-in-law, Judith. She operated the Roundtop Bed and Breakfast from 1985 into the 1990s, Smith wrote.

The property is near Wildcat Falls, which served as a destination years ago for residents on both sides of the river. They would dine at the falls and enjoy a cool breeze, according to local historian Jim McClure. 

The falls is on private property.

Auction is set for Oct. 23

The auction is set for 11 a.m. Oct. 23.

Interested buyers can contact Elite Auctions or their broker to register for the private auction, and previews of the property can be scheduled before the sale, according to the real estate listing.
